Ben Flora, Rick Alexander, and Dennis Alexander are Southern Oblivion, an acoustic/electric trio featuring two veterans of the rock and blues scene, brothers Rick and Dennis Alexander, and relative newcomer Ben Flora. Bound by a deep and abiding love and respect for the music of the Beatles and Bob Dylan, and the blues and folk that inspired them, and the great music that they have subsequently inspired, Southern Oblivion plays a wide variety of music, ranging from Robert Johnson blues through 1960's psychedelia and other classic rock, and into the 21st century. Southern Oblivion is far more than three guys strumming guitars. Accomplished musicians, the Alexander brothers add a whole new dimension to the bands' guitar-based sound, with Dennis alternating between driving bass and sweet mandolin, and Rick's intricate solos, soulful dobro and hauntingly beautiful harmonica. Although Southern Oblivion has only been playing together since December 31, 2002, collectively the members have over 75 years of playing under their belts, and have amassed an extensive songlist that, in the tradition of the Grateful Dead, ensures that no two shows will ever be exactly the same. With the addition of Aaron Walker on percussion, the Southern Oblivion sound has expanded even further, and just keeps getting better and better.
